What is UnveilHer? Why “unveil”? And who exactly is “her”? August 12th 2026 was a monumental day for me. It’s not only my 50th birthday (happy birthday to me!!!), it’s the day I finally said yes to putting my voice – all of me – out into the world. And I get to do that with you. We’re in for a ride, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. Welcome to UnveilHer.
I did it. I did it. I finally pressed record and uploaded this video. I mean, well, obviously it’s not uploaded yet because I’m recording, but this is the time that I intend to. I can’t tell you how many times I have shot this video for this podcast that didn’t exist, for years, and I’m doing it today.
Why today? Because today is my birthday! Yes, my birthday. And I set a goal. I’m going to do this. I’m going to launch. And it must be today because I need goals or deadlines.
But what makes this birthday special?
I’m turning 50. Well, I am 50, as of this morning. I still can’t think – I’m 50. I’ve been on this world for 50 years.
And goodness, when I think about it, I mean, it just feels like yesterday that I was in my 20s living my frivolous life, and in my 30s trying to make a name for myself, and in my 40s I had climbed the corporate ladder. And then all the striving and trying and wins and success and the house and the boat and the jet ski and the husband and… you might as well have said I had the white picket fence.
And I was miserable.
Absolutely, utterly miserable and ashamed with who I had become 10 years ago.
And I looked in the mirror and I’m like, nope. Not doing it anymore. Not doing it anymore. There’s gotta be a different way.
And for the past 10 years, I have rolled around the idea of doing a podcast and starting a business, starting a mission, starting something – whatever you name it – get my voice out there.
That was the thing.
I was ready on a professional level, and on a personal level, I was willing to go so far. But there was a piece of me that was still hiding.
Not anymore.
Not anymore.
So this 50th birthday isn’t just, yay, I’m 50. It’s, this is the first day of the rest of my life. The rest of my life that I get to live. The rest of my life that I get to be. That I get to be who I was created to be and who I am called to be.
And I can’t tell you how confusing that was to finally figure out.
Gosh, I don’t even think it was six months ago. I was still figuring it out. And I sent a message to friends of mine – I think it was just in May. And I mean that was right around the corner where I’m like, “I finally got it!”
That’s how deep I went through the trenches trying to figure out who I am and what I’m supposed to be.
And yeah, so I’m here with this podcast.
And the name: Welcome to UnveilHer with Jennifer Fox.
UnveilHer is so many different things and so many different layers, and I’m excited to see where it’s gonna go. I have some ideas in mind, but also it’s like an open book right there in front of everybody, in front of me, to see where it goes.
And wherever it goes, I know that it will be beautiful and perfect because that’s the calling. That’s the journey that the Lord is taking me on.
And UnveilHer – the name – I gotta say, I really tried to throw it away for 10-plus years.
I mean, the name Unveil has been with me for a while. The passion for reaching lives has been with me since I think I was a young girl. And this burning desire to help women specifically be set free is in my bones.
But I didn’t want this podcast to be solely about women. I wanted women to have a piece of it, but I was really afraid that if I went with UnveilHer, that it would just reach a “her” audience.
And then I thought, oh boy, you know, I’m jumping on the gender-bandwagon conversation – which there’s room for that. It’s a real conversation, and we will talk about that here on this podcast – but that’s not the thing of this. It’s a piece-part of it.
And then I thought, UnveilHer. Well, I don’t know, it sounds kind of lofty, like, “Oh, let’s walk down the aisle and get married.” And I’m like, no, that’s not it either.
So I tried The Jennifer Fox Show. I tried Unveiled with Jennifer Fox. I tried The Unveiling. I tried Poolside with Jennifer Fox because, well, if you know anything about me, I love the water. I mean, hence I’m in blue. I love it. And that’s where you’re gonna see me eventually one day when I have my own pool. I’ll be poolside, like conversations with Jennifer.
But every time I recorded it, it just didn’t feel right.
And as I’m moving toward this launch day of August 12th – today, my 50th birthday – I still did not have a podcast.
I had everything else ready to go. I had the business plan ready to go. I had the pictures ready to go. I had the outline ready to go. I had the services ready to go. And everything backed by my history, my strengths, my skills, my accomplishments.
But inside there was still that little, “No, you’re not. You’re not quite revealing all of you yet.”
And then I heard it again.
UnveilHer.
And then I heard, Trust me. Trust me with it. You may not understand, Jennifer… (oo I’m getting emotional.) You may not understand, Jennifer, where UnveilHer is going to take you, but I have things in store for you, so trust me with it.
So here I am, recording this with the full intent to publish. To go live. For the world to see. For you to see. And go on this journey with me.
I just am so honored to be here with you. That I get to sit here with you. That I get to share the parts of me that I’m scared to share, quite frankly, because I don’t like being judged. It sucks.
But I’m also in a place now that my worth isn’t defined in what you think of me.
I care what you think of me. I want you to enjoy me and hold me and sit with me and value me. But my value and my worth is inside and above, and no one can take that.
And that’s the unveiling part that I so desperately want for you.
Gosh, I mean, all the mistakes – and I’ve made some doozies of mistakes in my life, some that cost me pretty, pretty penny, almost my marriage. And by the grace of God, I am married. Still. And just want to throw that out there.
And that’s gonna be something else we talk about: the unveiling of who we’re meant to be, who we are in this world, and who we want to be.
Because those three things usually don’t meet.
The world says, do this, don’t do that. And we don’t even realize that that’s happening because it starts when we’re young. And by the time you get to be 50, you look back – or when I started this journey 10 years ago – it’s like, how in the world did I get here? And there’s a lot of digging you gotta do, or at least I had to do.
I unveiled some dark spots.
I’ve also unveiled some joyful, beautiful spots.
Because today at 50, it’s not just the last 10 years that I’ve been good.
It’s my whole life is good.
I am good.
You are good.
We just need to continue in the unveiling. In the unveiling of the beauty and the wonder and the mystery and the joy and the life and the freedom that is right there waiting for us.
And here’s the thing: you can’t go look for it.
You can’t.
You can’t find it out there. You can’t find it in a jet ski or in a bigger house or the convertible car or your best friend or your husband or your sister or your mother.
You can’t.
It doesn’t exist there.
And I so hope that you join me in this journey of unveiling because UnveilHer is – is maybe you’ll unveil. I hope. I hope, I hope you do.
But UnveilHer is unveiling me.
Unveiling me as a woman, as a person, as a human, as a community member, as a sister, as a daughter, as a wife, as a dog mama, as an aunt, as a colleague, as a superstar, as a knucklehead. [laughs]
Unveiling her.
Unveiling me.
So that we can ask the curious questions. Ask the questions about the questions. So that we can, you know, peel back a little bit and say, hmm, what’s really behind this? What does this really mean? I do this thing, but why? Why?
It’s funny. I just had lunch with my mom, and it was a lovely, lovely lunch and a beautiful birthday present. Thank you, Mom. I love you.
We’ve been through some hard stuff.
Just like my marriage.
It’s like our relationship is… pretty… Relationships are hard. People are hard. I’m hard.
You know, it’s just a sticky, messy world.
But there’s the other side of it too.
I used to say, “Oh man, when I’m done with this world, I will be so happy.” Not that I was morbid or wanted to go anywhere, but I was like, this is just hard. This is just hard. I’m just done with this.
And instead of going down that path, I decided if I could look at it differently, what if I could see it differently?
What if I could tr… listen?
You see, I was about to say try.
That’s a thing.
There is effort that I needed to put into it. There is, I guess, trying to the extent of, I’m willing and I’m in it. But not trying to the extent of, I just keep gotta doing. I just keep gotta going. I just have to get the list done or get the vacuuming done or get this job.
The trying doesn’t succeed you.
The just being does.
Just be. Trust me. Watch what I can do. -God
That little phrase right there has carried me through more than you know.
But you will find out.
You will find out in this journey of UnveilHer.
So I’m gonna wrap this up.
I had a little script planned. I had pages. I had notes. There’s a time and a place for that. But today I wanted to come to you just unpolished and not perfect.
Just you, me, sitting at my dining room table, ready for what’s next.
Ready to unveil her.
Unveiling.
Yeah.
So if you want to sing a happy birthday song, feel free. Or message me happy birthday. I mean, it’s always great to be celebrated.
But until next time, happy birthday to me.
I love you all. I’m so glad that we’re here together, and I can’t wait where this goes.
Bye.
